The higher education department has halted the salaries of 233 principals and clerk heads/clerks at non-government-assisted colleges in Orissa. Despite reminders, the colleges failed to provide information on their teaching and non-teaching staff to the department. Officials have warned the colleges' lack of compliance with instructions shows "gross negligence in discharging government duty."
