The Maharashtra government on Tuesday has scraped the 70:30 region-wise formula for the admission process in medical courses in the state. The 70:30 ration implemented that 70 percent of the reservation will be for locals (from that region), and 30 percent will be from the rest of the state.
However, Medical Education Minister Amit Deshmukh said that from now the admissions would now be based on the results of students who have appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
